With the mainstream media still obsessing about the January 6th “violent coup attempt” at the US Capitol Building, the incoming Biden Administration looks to be chock full of actual purveyors of violent coups. Don’t look to the mainstream media to report on this, however. Some of the same politicians and bureaucrats denouncing the ridiculous farce at the Capitol as if it were the equivalent of 9/11 have been involved for decades in planning and executing real coups overseas. In their real coups, many thousands of civilians have died.

Take returning Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, for example. More than anyone else she is the face of the US-led violent coup against a democratically-elected government in Ukraine in 2014. Nuland not only passed out snacks to the coup leaders, she was caught on a phone call actually plotting the coup right down to who would take power once the smoke cleared.

Unlike the fake Capitol “coup,” this was a real overthrow. Unlike the buffalo horn-wearing joke who desecrated the “sacred” Senate chamber, the Ukraine coup had real armed insurrectionists with a real plan to overthrow the government. Eventually, with the help of incoming Assistant Secretary of State Nuland, they succeeded – after thousands of civilians were killed.

As we were unfortunately reminded during the last four years of the Trump Administration, the personnel is the policy. So while President Trump railed against the “stupid wars” and promised to bring the troops home, he hired people like John Bolton and Mike Pompeo to get the job done. They spent their time “clarifying” Trump’s call for ending wars to mean he wanted to actually continue the wars. It was a colossal failure.

So it’s hard to be optimistic about a Biden Administration with so many hyper-interventionist Obama retreads.

While the US Agency for International Development (USAID) likes to sell itself as the compassionate arm of the US foreign policy, in fact USAID is one of the main US “regime change” agencies. Biden has announced that a top “humanitarian interventionist” – Samantha Power – would head that Agency in his Administration.

Power, who served on President Obama’s National Security Council staff and as US Ambassador to the UN, argued passionately and successfully that a US attack on the Gaddafi government in Libya would result in a liberation of the people and the outbreak of democracy in the country. In reality, her justification was all based on lies and the US assault has left nothing but murder and mayhem. Gaddafi’s relatively peaceful, if authoritarian, government has been replaced by radical terrorists and even slave markets.

At the end of the day, the Bush Republicans – like Rep. Liz Cheney – will join hands with the Biden Democrats to reinstate “American leadership.” This of course means more US overt and covert wars overseas. The unholy alliance between Big Tech and the US government will happily assist the US State Department under Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Assistant Secretary of State Nuland with the technology to foment more “regime change” operations wherever the Biden Administration sees fit. Finish destroying Syria and the secular Assad? Sure! Go back into Iraq? Why not? Afghanistan? That’s the good war! And Russia and China must be punished as well.

These are grave moments for we non-interventionists. But also we have a unique opportunity, informed by history, to denounce the warmongers and push for a peaceful and non-interventionist foreign policy.

Today happens to be Martin Luther King Jr. day. The government, corporations, and political parties all promote both BLM and Martin Luther King Jr. day in their absolute hypocrisy.

How magnanamus of them to give themselves a paid holiday for assassinating peace activist Martin Luther King Jr.

They are truly a bunch of class acts!

Hey relax. Lookit timmie strongman Generalísimo Pococohones, inaugurated in full banana-republic pomp with 25,000 troops to protect him from the public with no bullets cause he’s even more scared of the troops. CIA will of course continue to fuck with the Russians, using their Democratic focal points instead of their Republican focal points, with that contemptible cowardly cooze of a presidential puppet ruler tied to their bumper like the hostages in Mad Max Fury Road. The Russians are not taking CIA shit any more. The poor old tough-talking pussy, we won’t whether he’s shitting his pants in galloping dementia or in fear.

We dont need more offensive wars or to change anyone else’s regime. Lets be good neighbors instead and mind our own business. Just defend America…….here.

Rather a gloomy prospect looking at all these war criminals come back into power. Might as well call it like it is; they are war criminals soaked in other people’s blood. It’s just a matter of time before they unleash some more murderous ‘democracy’ upon some country or two. Who is first on the hit list? Should American troops be required to join in then they’ll want people from the much maligned deplorable class to take the casualties.

  14. @Cowboy

    Yes, great article Dr Paul.

  15. @Anon

Sadly, the Nat’ – G can be used for purely offensive purposes: ie Afghanistan & Iraq

Isnt that a novel concept right? Using defense budgets for actual defense instead of offensive wars…. The US gov needs more people like Dr Paul. .. Sadly he doesnt touch the string of the “exceptionalism” drug that gets ppl high

How about having stopped disarming Americans at airport terminals, Jokem, instead of “fighting over there, so we don’t have to fight them over here, except when we import them as refugees …”?

As Peak Stupidity noted in “16 Years of Spreading Democracy – They still hate us for our freedoms(?)”, 9/11 would not have been a nation-changing event, had the average number of armed Americans had been let alone when getting onto those airplanes*.

Oh, and the government has been letting more immigrants in from that part of the world yearly than before that attack.

Yeah, something had to be done alright, Jokem, but not the War on Terra, the Patriot Police State Increase Act, and the formation of the Dept. of Motherland Security.

    * This is under the assumption that the official story is true, not a given, but there are millions of other threads for those arguments.

I would have to tweak it, keeping in mind that Dr. Paul is retired, and that there is NO ONE else near as Constitutionalist there now, I’d have to FIFY with “The US gov needs more people like Dr. Paul.”

I agree our approach to this is not what I would choose. This is an attempt to fill the pockets of defense contractors and drag things out. I think most of the opponents of the war would have us do nothing.

after 911, something needed to be done other than wringing our hands

    and now that

I agree our approach to this is not what I would choose.

Can you specify what “something” should have been done, and what “approach” you would choose?

I would tell leaders of other countries, ‘If you harbor people who plan or carry out attacks on US Citizens you will be replaced’ I would also add to that ‘If you do this to countries friendly to us we will support them in an unspecified manner depending upon how close our relationship is to them’.

If they do not take us seriously I would ask Congress for a declaration of war, with wide discretion on what to do about it. Then I would invade the offending country, defeat their military and declare martial law.

I would then appoint a military governor friendly to the USA who would command auxiliaries formed from the remaining military with the job of seeing this does not happen again. I would remind that person of the consequences above.

If a situation arose which they could not handle they could ask for support from our special forces.

Once this has gone on long enough to pacify the country we could set up a benign government there with another reminder of the consequences above.

Here we go – another ‘conspiracy’ only 85-yrr old Ron Paul and his faithful are aware of. Aw, that terrible “mainstream media”!

Tell us about the Capital breeched by Trump supporters 6 Jan 2021, cops killed, chants of ‘hang Mike Pence”, zip-ties, body-armor, selfies destroying the building. Please explain it Ron. Spare no words. Elephant in the room.

“Unlike the fake Capitol “coup,” this was a real overthrow. Surely you’d be singing another tune had the “Capital coup” succeeded in overturning the Constitution. Doubtless then, with great ‘libertarian’ principals, you’d favorably opine on the thugs (patriots) that invaded the Capital.

As for “stupid wars” tell us about Trump’s Afghanistan and Iraq (we’re still there). Tell us about Yemen and Trump pal MBS.

Corruption is the word. You do little service trying to attribute it to partisan tribes. Both (all) swim in it. That’s the world we live in. Of course, you’re above it all, saintly scourge, throwing a wrench into the works while delighting in disfunction. All designed to exhibit your genius.

Want to change things? Stop posting partisan BS, start posting potential solutions. You’ll feel better.

    Just a thought.

  24. The Bush’s were never Republicans in the normal sense of that word. They have always been Neo-Cons in their international politics and democrats in their national politics. They are the biggest phonies around.

  25. See, SOP303 plans to turn off internet and phone communications by Homeland Security without congressional approval in event of mass unrest. Obviously, BLM burning police stations and city halls down, in addition to destroying stores across America was AOK, because it was not federal in most cases. Obviously, when it is federal it counts and when it is state or local it doesn’t even warrant arrests of vandals, looters, and arsons, like Pelosi demostrated, she really believes that she is the republic! Communications should never be shut down! Not in any circumstances! If they do it, it is for stealing! Make no mistake! That is the only reason that they will do it! Of course they also want to stop the spread of the truth, which is locked up in Belmarsh, and I have been falsely imprisoned and illegally enslaved in my own home by terrorists in the surveillance state! Terrorism is their business model, in case 9/11, the scamdemic, BLM, and antifa were not proof enough for everyone! The space weather, EMPs, and CMEs destroying the internet are complete bullshit! I have been saying that for years!

Every four years we have that exact same Unique Opportunity, Ron; and every four years more people who’ve never owned a pair of shoes and who couldn’t care less about woke politics, get blown to kingdom come.

Maybe if you wrote an op-ed alerting your countrymen that America passed the point of no return two decades ago, and – short of taking up arms and punctuating an actual coup attempt by littering the streets of our nation’s capitol with the corpses of politicians, journalists, lobbyists and dual citizens installed to watch over Israel’s investments – only serfhood and soma await the dwindling numbers of actual, useful, honest Americans……you might just trigger that Real Change that’s as forever remote and just out of reach as the Messiah’s return, that not even you can bring yourself to believe in any longer. Just like I, and other once-supporters of you, stopped believing in your brand of utopian civic eyewash some time ago.

  27. @Dr. Charles Fhandrich

The Bush’s were never Republicans in the normal sense of that word.

That’s an interesting perspective, when (i) the actual conduct of “international politics” is consistently Exceptional! among Red+Blue politicians since the time when Senator Robert Taft was heterodox about imperialism and (ii) the welfare state has likewise thrived no matter the rhetoric of “national politics.”

    So were/are

    Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan

    Senators Cruz, Graham, McCain, McConnell

    “normal sense” Republicans?

It might also help if you provide a short, representative list of some other politicians who are.
