The G7 meeting focused attention on many challenges facing the world, but it did not address the most dangerous threat of them all, which is the transformation of the Republican Party in the US into a fascist movement.

When Donald Trump was in the White House there was much debate about whether or not he could be called a fascist in the full sense of the word, and not merely as a political insult. His presidency showed many of the characteristics of a fascist dictatorship, except the crucial one of automatic re-election.

But Trump or Trump-like leaders may not have to face this democratic impediment in future. It was only this year that the final building blocks have been put in place by Republicans as they replicate the structure of fascist movements in Europe in the 1920s and 1930s.

Two strategies, though never entirely absent from Republican behaviour in the past, have become far more central to their approach. One is a greater willingness to use or tolerate violence against their opponents, something that became notorious during the invasion of the Capitol by pro-Trump rioters on 6 January.

The other change among Republicans is much less commented on, but is more sinister and significant. This is the systematic Republican takeover of the electoral machinery that oversees elections and makes sure that they are fair. Minor officials in charge of them have suddenly become vital to the future of American democracy. Remember that it was only the refusal of these functionaries to cave in to Trump’s threats and blandishments that stopped him stealing the presidential election last November.

Many of them will be unable to perform the same duty in future elections. The Republican Party across the country is replacing or intimidating them so they are giving up their jobs or are being forced from their posts. In Pennsylvania, a state which played a crucial role in Trump’s defeat, a third of county election officials have changed as have numerous others in swing states like Michigan and Wisconsin. Their places are frequently being taken by conspiracy theory zealots who will have the power to nullify election results that are not to their liking. A survey by the Brennan Center for Justice shows that one in three local election officials say that they are being subjected to harassment and other pressures.

Speeding up this exodus are Republican state legislatures that have passed laws mandating heavy fines – $10,000 in Iowa, $25,000 in Florida – for election supervisors who make minor technical mistakes. Republican officials who refused to say that Trump won the election are being removed by their party. The Republicans should be able to do in 2022 and 2024 what they failed to do in 2020, which is to nullify election results at will so the true outcome of a poll can be ignored. Put simply, the will of the people will no longer count for anything.

Authoritarian regimes across the world have found that it is much easier and more certain to announce the election result they would like than to go to all the trouble of suppressing votes and gerrymandering constituencies. Once control of the electoral machinery is obtained then democracy poses no threat to those in power. Fascist leaders may use democratic processes to obtain office, but once there, their instinct is to pull up the ladder and let nobody else climb up it.

Nullification of elections is only the latest step in the Republican Party’s strange voyage towards becoming a genuine fascist party. Other steps have a much longer history, notably the moment half a century ago when President Nixon adopted his “Southern Strategy” whereby the Republicans capitalised on the Civil Rights acts to make a political takeover of the American South. The old slave states became the strongholds of the Republican Party which had once freed the slaves and defeated the Confederacy.

It is worth listing the chief characteristics of fascist movements in order to assess how far they are now shared by the Republicans. Exploitation of ethnic, religious and cultural hatreds is probably the most universal feature of fascism. Others include a demagogic leader with a cult of personality who makes messianic but vague promises to deliver a golden future; appeals to law-and-order but a practical contempt for legality; the use, manipulation and ultimate marginalisation of democratic procedures; a willingness to use physical force; demonising the educated elite – and the media in particular; shady relations with plutocrats seeking profit from regime change.

One by one these boxes have been ticked by the Republicans until the list is complete. The Tea Party movement was an important staging post on the road to Trumpism. Trump himself possesses all the classic features of a fascist leader, though he was somewhat hemmed in by the institutional and political divisions of power. Yet these impediments will be less in future as local legislatures, courts, electoral machinery and Congress itself are colonised by Trumpian Republicans. This erosion of democracy has a precedent, given that Al Gore in 2000 and Hillary Clinton in 2016 were denied the presidency though each won a majority of the popular vote, but it is becoming all pervasive

American fascism differs from its European, Middle Eastern and Latin American variants because of the history of America, with its legacy of slavery, and the Civil War still remaining as a great divider. Slavery was abolished, the Confederacy lost the war, but in many respects the civil war never ended.

ORDER IT NOW

The civil rights legislation of the 1960s provoked a white counteroffensive that still goes on. Opposition to racial equality has never ceased. The key provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which declared that changes in state election laws must have federal approval, was invalidated by Republican appointed judges on the Supreme Court in 2013. “Our country has changed,” said chief Justice John G Roberts in a majority opinion, which declared that racial minorities no longer faced barriers to voting in states with a history of discrimination. The absurdity of this was immediately demonstrated as Texas introduced a previously blocked voter ID law.

Voter suppression has ballooned ever since, but never more than this year. Some 14 Republican controlled states have passed 24 laws criminalising, politicising and interfering in elections to their own advantage.

What explains the descent of the Republican Party into fascism? Racial division explains much. The division of American culture along the same geographical lines as the civil war explains more. Add to this the frightening dislocation imposed on white working- and middle-class Americans by technological change and globalisation. Powerful forces are let loose similar to those that once propelled the rise of European fascism and is now doing the same in America.

We’ve probably all ran across at some point an article how negroes act like thugs and whores because the evil system constantly expects them to act like thug and whores and this breaks their spirit and they start acting like thugs and whores.

Whereas if society starts constantly telling negroes that they are awesome, they will become awesome.

Question: what will happen, by this logic, if you constantly call white conservatives ‘fascist’ and treat them like terrorists?

  2. “One is a greater willingness to use or tolerate violence against their opponents, something that became notorious during the invasion of the Capitol by pro-Trump rioters on 6 January.”

I love this line. It’s incredible how people are able to ignore the riots in almost every major city, the billions in damage, the federal court houses burnt, the police stations assaulted to the point where they were abandoned, to call the Capitol “invasion” the greatest threat to America.

Oh no! Republicans want votes to be counted accurately! Those fascists!

Look out! That Republican over there thinks a voter should have some form of ID instead of counties sending out unsolicited ballots! That Nazi!

Quick Antifa, take over another six square blocks in Seattle, a few white people don’t hate themselves!

Also see Joseph Whitehouse Hagin II (born January 6, 1956) is an American political aide who served as White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations under President Donald Trump from 2017 to 2018, a role he also served in for President George W. Bush from 2001 until July 2008

Also they are all traitors, because any real “intelligence/security” righteous person with any real love for the United States would tell the American People that 9/11 was an inside job of both Republican and Democrats and the United Kingdom Directorate-who tells US subordinates what to do and control our Federal Reserve and Israel whose teams set the mini nuke Demolition charges, with assists from Saudi Arabia.

Regardless of the clear fact that this writer only ever puts finger to keyboard in order to add to the laughs he can accrue to his ‘Lolometer’ account, rather than to make any objective contribution which might attempt to throw light upon the current Western political dystopia, it has to be said that in writing the line I highlight he nonetheless demonstrates that to him, as to the vast majority of ‘the people’, the word ‘Fascism’ has been so carefully and completely stripped naked of all of its actual meaning, and has thereby instead been invested with a cloak wholly of the making of those in whose interests it is to maintain actual fascism safely within the pantomime that has been especially written for it, in which ‘the people’ dutifully boo and hiss whenever the ‘fascist’ bogeyman appears on stage, that he merely uses the term for laughs. This is not at all helpful, except in perpetuating the moratorium that has been placed upon our only route of escape from the nightmarish hold that was placed upon the Western polity in the aftermath of the ‘Great Victory’ won over fascism by the oligarchy that now sits in triumph over us, despoiling the fruits of thousands of years’s effort in building superb societies and replacing them with pointless, shallow, deracinated parodies of what they were as recently as a couple of generati0ns ago.

Bravo, Mr Cockburn! Your contribution to our continued dystopia is no doubt warmly approved of by the (((ruling oligarchy))) for whom you so readily prostitute yourself. But, on must ask, why on earth are you allowed in this place, where most of us know and detest your sort?

    Everything inside the government
    Nothing outside the government
    Nothing against the government

Sounds more like donkeys than elephants to me

(Some people want to quibble that the word “government” should be rendered “state”. I contend that in 21st century USA it is a distinction without a difference )

After the electoral snafu of 2000, a blue ribbon bipartisan commission was organized. The chairman was Jimmy Carter. Most of these election integrity laws are finally implementing the recommendations of that commission.

I don’t think the effects of the power of suggestion are that strong. And anyway their logic is situational and only is applied when it is of benefit to them. If they don’t like the conclusion that follows from one of their logical suppositions, they simply claim it is not applicable in this case, or if that fails, they will claim to never have held it in the first place. There is no way to win an argument against people who don’t have a shred of honor. Honor is an antiquated concept, and probably white-centric or white-supremacist or some such crap.

Because the „riots“ were a joke, and the Trump administration did everything possible to aggravate the situation and then Fox News pumped nonsense into the brains of gullible people. I lived through real race riots in ´68. To call a bunch of demonstrations by bored spoiled white kids combined with some typical black looting a „riot“ is laughable. They are ignored because for most people the BLM movement was obviously a pretend movement of kids frustrated by COVID restrictions, not an attack on Democracy.

From 1916 to 1945, the U.S. dime featured Liberty on one side, and a Fasces on the other. After 1945, the U.S. adopted a gaggle of Nazi scientists to pursue a cold “war” against the U.S.S.R. The single most important attribute of any legitimately representative system is the voluntary willingness to step aside.. to not monopolize or consolidate power.

I have to admire Yair Lapid in this sense, doing what is right instead of what would most profit him personally. If that duty is not fulfilled, all else is lost.. it is no longer a redeemable system, and that has been the case in the US construct since even before the Alien and Sedition acts, shortly after the largely non-consensual, strong-armed Federalization by a cabal of determined, crafty monarchists, merchants and financiers.

This consolidation has a recognizable side effect, which is the universal unerpinning of Gangsterism, in all societies – the assembly of the contesting monopolists into competing gangs / groups.

This was the work of the Federalists initially, with Jefferson essentially forced to seek collaborators in his efforts to dethrone the entrenched but publicly hated Federal Corporatists who had seized all the levers of power, but as is inevitable, with Jeffersons’ demise, the Gangsterism permeated both of the contesting assemblies of power mongers, who had the audacity to publicly devolve the Govt itself into their own private hands, permanently.

I would say that the Republican Party of modern times has devolved into a magnet for the legitimately ‘Stupid’, who fail to realize that its masters have no interest in them beyond propagandizing for the next attempt at power-seziure, while the competing ‘Gangsters’ in the Democratic Party are honest in their overt contempt for actual historical Americans, and openly applaud efforts to hasten their demise.

So, we once again arrive at the junction of competing gangster organizations structured to seize and monopolize power as being completely and inherently incompatible with a representative governmental system. More to the point, a people intellectually incapable of recognizing this standard, are not a candidate population for self-governance in the first place.

  19. anon[232] • Disclaimer says:

Why do conservatives want to remain in a society with fanatical, dangerous imbeciles like this man here? And I do mean that. Anyone who could ignore the plethora of evidence contradicting this man’s deluded ranting is psychotic and dangerous. Sure, the republican party is corrupt and stupid, but “fascist” is a label far more aptly applied to his own side. Consider the following and let’s see who the real “fascists” are:

    1. The democrats recently tried overthrowing our government by packing the supreme court with their commissars, effectively establishing a legal dictatorship a la Germany in the 1930s. They also want to give themselves a permanent majority in the Senate by admitting DC to the Union while they simultaneously deny efforts of red areas like northern California and eastern Oregon to break away (because that would re-balance things).

    2. The far-left has “invaded” the capitol multiple times over the years, most recently during the confirmation hearings for Brett Kavanaugh. A far-leftist also planted a bomb in the capitol building during the 1980s. But yet their media hypes this Jan. 6th nothingburger to scare the public into letting them pass an Enabling Act so they can establish a fascist police state.

    3. None of the protesters who “invaded the capitol” were armed. They were let in. Some were likely FBI agitators as suggested by court documents and precedent. The only people who died were protestors, one of whom (an unarmed woman) was shot and murdered by a cop. His identity is being kept secret by state media. Many protestors remain in jail, reportedly being abused, without bail while BLM rioters were set loose without charge during the 2020 riots that their media falsely claimed were “mostly peaceful” (but over 600 riots, multiple deaths, arson, looting … etc.).

    4. Over 600 declared riots raged through America in 2020 as leftist DAs facilitated violence by letting rioters back onto the streets without charge. Multiple people were murdered as street gangs burned police stations (killing one cop), attacked a federal courthouse, barricaded streets and neighborhoods, passed out AK47s, and marched through the streets with guns intimidating bystanders. They burned dozens of buildings and looted just as many stores, causing over a billion dollars in insurance claims. They also burned a church. There are countless hours of video of these events.

    5. Leftists destroyed over 200 American statues, much of them simply for depicting White Caucasians. Most who did this were never prosecuted as the state jailed the other side for defacing racist BLM graffiti painted on the streets. The mayor of DC held a meeting to discuss removing the Washington Monument. The official Twitter account of the democrat party labeled Mount Rushmore a symbol of “White supremacy.”

    6. Biden’s racist “no Whites” farm bill that left out people from receiving federal relief on the basis of their race was just overturned by a federal judge.

    7. The far-left defunded billions of dollars in funds for policing. Between that, their rhetoric, and selective prosecution of police officers, the violent crime rate has soared. There is zero evidence either Covid or lockdowns are responsible.

    8. Democrats in the media colluded with the feds to illegally release Donald Trump’s tax returns (a felony) in an attempt to influence the election.

    9. The democrat party colluded with dozens of billionaires, hundreds of lawyers, and several corporations and media outlets to change election laws, influence public opinion, outlaw third parties, and suppress damaging information in an effort to install Biden as president. That’s pretty much the definition of fascism.

    10. The democrat party maintains a near complete lock on the media and they use it to spew state propaganda, including hiding the origins of Covid-19 because it would be damaging to the regime. Another example among many: they lied about Trump clearing a church of peaceful protestors for a photo op back in 2020. There are countless other examples of their insane lies.

    11. The democrat party told us to use mail-in-ballots, despite the potential for fraud but now we can’t use voter ID, for which there is zero evidence of voter disenfranchisement, to ensure the integrity of our elections.

    12. The left impeached Trump twice. The latter effort involved congressmen introducing doctored evidence, videos and tweets, into the proceeding record. The chief justice boycotted the procedure because it was unconstitutional.

    13. The far-left spent years trying to overthrow the government by floating a treasonous conspiracy theory of Russian collusion. Their agents floated countless lies of having evidence of collusion to the press. No such evidence was ever presented.

    14. Federal employees donate to the democrats by a 17 to 1 margin. Corporations give far more to the democrat party and have for well over a decade. These corporations work with the democrats in government to punish red states for voting against them, as they recently did in Georgia. It’s funny how these people want to require background checks for gun purchases, but I can’t require an ID to vote, a common practice in much of the world, while they call me racist and “fascist.”

… I could go on. There are countless examples. The two sides do not compare. Cockburn’s side is the side of fascism and evil. Secede or live under this tyrant’s yoke.

  38. This is excellent satire, muy kinder bueno!

  39. Caliban says:

Mr. Cockburn clearly has not yet ‘got the memo’. Every citizen in the nation with at least two functioning brain cells, and a synapse to connect them, can easily see that our entire government has been fully transformed into a giant sewage swamp of legalized bribery. Both parties are comfortably under the complete control of a Cabal of Elite Forces who hold all the levers of actual power in their hands, principally the Mass Media, which now control our entire electoral clown show. (The means of communication are the primary means of power, but the Elites also control the nation’s money, besides having full control of BOTH political parties in a two-party system).

I’m sure Mr. Chicken Little Cockburn’s brilliant ‘the sky is falling..the sky is falling’ analysis is sincere, but it only shows his inability to understand what is actually happening in the world he lives in. He is thinking EXACTLY what his Elite Masters, the Ruling Elites who rule over us all, want him to think. And worse, he is now ‘working for them’. He is pouring all his Chicken Little heart and soul into trying to get everyone else to think EXACTLY what our Elite Masters want every one of us to think.

It’s the Republicans who are promoting fascist rule, Chicken Little Cockburn has concluded, as if the Democrats aren’t controlled by the same Ruling Elite powers that control the Republicans, and as if they were not actually proposing, (out loud, fer crissakes), that anyone who opposes them should be expelled from government, and hunted down as “domestic terrorists”, fired from their jobs, expelled from society to live in a tent on the sidewalk.

It’s a giant version of the ancient Shell Game. The Game Master shuffles the shells back and forth, as the ‘pea’ flits back and forth from shell to shell so ‘the mark’ can clearly see it, then is skillfully palmed by sleight of hand before the mark is invited to choose which shell it’s under.

Patrick Cockburn has signed on to play The Shill, acting like a complete idiot who can’t see the obvious, and thus he encourages others to play the game. The Shill is often actually in the employ of the Game Master, but in poor Chicken Little Cockburn’s case he is more likely simply a stupid dupe.

“Divide and rule”, saith the Ruling Elites, as they have for 10,000 years. “O goody gumdrops”, saith Patrick Cockburn, like an idiot Chicken Little who doesn’t have the brains to add up 2+2. “Maybe if we help them “divide and rule” that will keep the Republicans from capturing fascist power”, Mr. Chicken Little Cockburn concludes.

Around the corner the same Shell Game is being played, but there ‘the dupe’ is saying, “maybe if we help them “divide and rule” that will keep the Democrats from capturing fascist power”.

And all the while the Game Master smiles cunningly, while exercising fascist power.

Trump could and should have done much more in the caudillo line of populism. His children should all have refrained from trying to line their pockets in obvious ways and led charities for deserving whites, especially veterans and young people. There should have been an activist MAGA youth group that could have gone toe to toe with Antifa. The Hitler playbook was very effective. It can be used again.

They really are pussies. As a European living in Europe I also wish the “nationalist” parties in Europe were somewhat fascist. Being eager not to offend the Jewish supremacy, those parties wouldn’t touch any kind of national awareness, let alone racial awareness. Their motto is: all those who accept European values, i.e. Judeo-Christian values, are European patriots.

The United States is a fascist state – the Great Reset – public/private partnership – is a global fascist ‘movement’. The US is enthralled to a monopolistic two-party system that is merely two sides of the same coin – endless wars, trickle up economics and American Exceptionalism. The cosmetic domestic differences between the woke and bigoted is nothing but entertainment fodder to obfuscate a failed ‘democratic’ state. The Pox is on both houses, and to divide one from the other is disingenuous.

Here is a/couple/three short introductions to fascism ….

    Hitler on democracy

    Hitler mocking Roosevelt

Hitler at a Siemens factory in 1934

  47. Is the author joking? If the Republican party is fascist or has fascist ambitions, I’d like to know where he thinks the democrat party has been leading this country to for the last 50 or so years? How about communism, for beginners? And for that matter, they are much further along than the weak kneed, spineless, Republicans who wont even object to people like Eric Swalwell, democrat California, having had a long affair with a Chinese national in which she had access to government offices and institutions. Or how about Sen. Diane Feinstein’s driver for years, a Chinese communist spy. The Chinese have ridiculed and detested the Biden administration despite Bidens’ connections with them and Hunters too… They respected the Trump administration, because they knew where it was coming from. What a joke this article is. For the first time in who knows how many years, a President arrives on the scene who actually cares about America first and the first thing some people assume is that he’s trying to be a dictator. No wonder this nation is sinking—cities burning daily, people murdered because of their race, government officials in states like New York and California, totally and completely corrupt and disdainful of citizens in every way possible!

Question: what will happen, by this logic, if you constantly call white conservatives ‘fascist’ and treat them like terrorists?

Very good reasoning, Rahan. However, that outcome (were it to happen, which is unlikely) may not actually be within the realm of unintended consequences for the myth based extreme left. They may actually want a showdown with white people and conservatives, because – being myth based – they believe hyper moral historical narratives like the Tuskegee Airmen won the war, Buffalo soldiers won the West, and black math ladies put a man on the moon. That means they would certainly win a provoked war against fascists and supremacists.

The descent into demagoguery could be traced to the Bush -Cheney era with the clear signal that dissent won’t be allowed .
The paleo conservatives were thrown out by Kristol and his gangsters . But they believed the virus could be quarantined to certain fields only .
. Trump is no aberration . He is on the right spot on this progression . The ‘weak ‘ can’t survive . The paleo Republican couldn’t fight or win . They did not fight Bush-Cheny and they did not fight Obama on policies but fought him over racial identity . Israel ,Iran , and war on terror .
The damages were done and only had gotten bigger under their supervision . Now the toxic descent into Trumpism is too much for them .

It was a race for survival and same time a race to and for the bottom . Only the worst demagogue is certain to survive . Majority ethnic group will shape the demagoguery knowingly and unknowingly, amply directed and guided from above .

The hallmark of a fascist takeover is when one can utter opposite contrasting nonsense or promises and carry on with same adulation and emotional attachment from the base .

Trump’s pre -2017 promises were broken as soon he became president . He didn’t achieve anything
that the base refer to but the base has remained tethered to his persona defined by dangerous betrayal .

Where did this come from? The Democrats are the party of virtue? I think not. The issue of race needs to be stamped out even if the only effect is to force everyone to stop talking about it no matter their private opinion. However, that is a small issue considering that the US past one way or another has become a joke.

We need a new direction and that direction may be most easily found if the Republicans and Democrats bury the hatchet in each other and retire whimpering from the scene. However, I doubt the Republicans have the macho to accomplish it. Collectively, they have made a mockery of everything but the Republicans are the weak one of the pair.

Democracy has become a joke in America because of these two parties.

  56. It’s the whole US governing apparatus whether Democrat or Republican that’s become fascist, especially after 911 when it was really put into practice in militarizing the police, the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the diverting of flights so that the US authorities could arrest those who it feels threatened by regardless of whether American law applies there or not. Before 911, if one was traveling to the United States, you were greeted by a friendly US immigration officer with a non-intimidating uniform. Now you meet up with people who treat you like a criminal and wear intimidating black uniforms that look like they were modeled on Soviet secret police execution squads of the 1930’s. No Democrat or Republican government has called for going back to the good-old-days of the friendly immigration border officers that existed prior to 911. This says one thing, that every government, Democratic or Republican since 911 like the system like it is, black uniforms show the authority of the state over the citizen. It shouts out, “obey or you will be crushed like a bug under the iron heel of the state.”

The truth is that the globalists were wrong about race and culture. They are inexorably tied and you can’t just turn the third world into the first by blaming White people and taking their stuff.

Republicans are fascist? They can’t even call critical race theory what it is which is anti-White propaganda from desperate leftists. Republicans can’t even explain what they stand for. About all they can agree on is low taxes and less government. They aren’t a threat to anyone.

  69. The thing is, the Republican party is just as on board with wokeness as the Democrat.

Words are cheap and the cheapest of all words is Fascist…. I think the Anti-Fascists, ATFA, are more fascist than the Republican legislatures who are trying to prevent dead people voting, people voting from other states, ballot harvesting, and manipulation of machines so that they maintain the “correct” ratios for Democrats to win. All of this is so highly illegal it’s hard to imagine why anyone would consider it fascist. Closer to fascist is the state of California where a whole dormitory that was empty (that is, an empty building) voted. People complained that dogs voted in California. California is so corrupt because the voting system is completely corrupted. I have voted for all the homeless bills that came my way until I realized that none of the money ever went to the homeless. Child Protective Services traffics children, and the worst place is Los Angeles. Imagine… we pay the bureaucrats to sell children that have been taken from their parents. The word fascist is just a scary word to throw at people you don’t understand or like because you live in your ivory tower of leftism, of “word smithery.” At one time it seemed that the whole country relied on words to sway opinion and now words are useless because it is just another form of tyranny. Now tyranny is a word that has some force to it because it is real.

  74. @P.Atreides

Patrick Cockburn is a perfect example of Trump Derangement Syndrome when left undiagnosed. If he were to just restrict himself to writing commentaries about Iraq then he could probably still manage to crank out some useful reports somewhere about something. But the moment that he is allowed to utter a syllable about Trump everything wrong with him just spills all over the place like porridge. It’s bizarre that I would have to say that since I never liked Trump and regarded him as a place-holder for Netanyahu. I did end up voting for him in 2020 (after refusing to vote either of the main 2 candidates in 2016 and instead writing in a candidate). I did that then because it seemed the only way to express disapproval of Black Lies Matter. But whatever criticisms I made of Trump are irrelevant to this insane rant by Patrick Cockburn. He really just focus on doing a lot of reporting about Syria or something and stay off of the topic of Trump for the rest of his life.

I think we all know that little project has failed. For at least the past quarter century, blacks have been overwhelmingly over-represented on television, in all media, and in advertising as the greatest thing since sliced bread to happen to America – in a fashion that is diametrically opposite to reality. I have watched in baffled confusion as black scientists discovered cures for all the world’s ills against a backdrop of pure fiction where white men in security company commercials rob most homes and businesses, white men fill all the sets of handcuffs and fill prisons whenever they appear on the boob tube and big screen. White men who in the past were and still are the raw material that built the modern world shuffle around like shamefaced dullards as the black heroes occupy the spotlight and fascinate the most beautiful and fertile young white women who, like the dolts they are, fail to notice the grim reality that they will end up either kicked to the curb with a bunch of mixed race kids or worse, dumped in a shallow grave after being killed on a whimsical impulse for an imagined insult to their black kang. And after all these years of shining in false depictions of a world full of big salaries earned after attending ivy-league schools, driving Jaguars and Mercedes, (no Honda’s for these folks) and living in mansions or brownstones, the Cinderella version or the REAL black people in the real ghettoes only grow more self-righteous and destructively thuggish but all the more certain of their pure innocence and Whitey’s enduring evil, diseased soul, muttering about the revenge that Whitey has got coming to him that will be biblical in scope.

Unless whites – both men and women take a cold hard look at all of this and put a stop to it. I put an absolute challenge to any comments I see (mostly on TikTok) – and there are MANY – making such statements that whites are collectively evil an revenge will be inflicted on us. It’s important we push back and people know that we will not just die off. Some of us have children and grandchildren who deserve their piece of this country their forefathers built.

Eastern Europe today still has market and democracy structures similar to the West in the 1980s and 1990s, as opposed to today.

The most important fascist in history was Benito Mussolini. According to him, fascism means

    Everything inside the government
    Nothing outside the government
    Nothing against the government

The Italian Fascists (isn’t that redundant?) saw themselves as leftists. The most important Fascist* in the English-speaking world was Oswald Mosley. He called himself “always a man of the Left”. At the end of his life.

This doesn’t mean they were leftists; it’s more accurate to call them centrists. To the right of Gramsci, but definitely to the left of our Republicans. Can you name a single issue on which Mussolini was more reactionary than Coolidge?

*The most important fascist [sic] in the English-speaking world was of course FDR. Among other things, he introduced peacetime conscription, to our detriment.

Yes, but the point is that people in the UK believe this stuff when they read it, and the fact that in 4 years Trump didn’t do anything remotely ‘fascistic’ (like putting peaceful trespassers in solitary for six months) doesn’t matter.

These people are told to applaud the brave pussy-hatters invading Capitol offices over Kavanaugh (who was IIRC going to make The Handmaid’s Tale reality), and that the protesters against election fraud in January were an attempt to overthrow the government and kill senators.

  93. Judith says:

I don’t except Mr. Cockburn’s thesis that the republican party is becoming a fascist party, absurd, however in his condemnation of them he has managed to avoid addressing the democrat’s 4 year long efforts to oust an elected president using one false allegation after another, Russia-gate being the worst. The democrats had the mainstream press as well as left wing sites on board with no concrete evidence to substantiate such a claim. Now that does have a fascist ring to it.. He automatically dismisses the possibility of electoral fraud in the 2020 presidential election even though the opposing party in complicity with the media tried to remove Trump from office. His take on the Capital riot basically states Trump ordered the riot, when I heard him say go in peace. It’s been suggested very strongly that the FBI may have infiltrated these groups, and helped to incite and orchestrate this attack on the Capital. Here’s a headline from RT “Court filings suggest that FBI operatives were among the mob who stormed the US Capitol in January, and may have set up the riot. With the riot used as justification for new terrorism policy, the media is downplaying the story.” Good journalist wait until all the evidence is in, and more then anything they look at things with a more objective perspective then Cockburn did in this article.

The riots, the coronavirus, the massive election fraud, the impeachment trials, January 6, are all branches of the same tree falling on the old Republic.
