“That attack, that siege” of the Capitol, FBI Director Chris Wray told Congress, “was criminal behavior, plain and simple, and it was behavior we at the FBI view as domestic terrorism.”

“Domestic terrorism,” said Wray, echoing his boss.

For what had been President-elect Joe Biden’s reaction to the Capitol riot?

“Don’t dare call them protesters. They were a riotous mob. Insurrectionists. Domestic terrorists. It’s that basic. It’s that simple,” said Biden.

Yet, the phrase domestic terrorism conjures up events from our past far graver than a four-hours occupation of the Capitol. Nat Turner’s rebellion. John Brown’s 1859 raid on Harper’s Ferry. Timothy McVeigh and Oklahoma City.

The near assassination of Harry Truman at Blair House by Puerto Rican nationalists, Nov.1, 1950. The shooting and wounding of five congressmen from the House gallery on March 1, 1954.

The 1974 bombing of New York’s Fraunces Tavern — where Gen. George Washington said farewell to his officers — also the work of Puerto Ricans demanding independence. Four died there and 50 were injured.

Yet, in the “domestic terrorism” at the Capitol, no protester set off a bomb, toppled a statue, or fired a weapon. Of the four who died that day, all were protesters. Ashli Babbitt, 35, a 14-year Air Force veteran, was shot to death by a Capitol cop as she tried to force her way into the Senate chamber.

A rioter and law-breaker, yes, but a terrorist who deserved to die?

Benjamin Phillips, 50, died of a stroke; Kevin Greeson, 55, of a heart attack. Rosanne Boyland, 34, was apparently crushed in the melee.

Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick died of a stroke the next day. Media reports that he had been hit with a fire extinguisher proved false. In the two months since Jan. 6, no one has been charged in his death.

Was Wray’s FBI alerted in advance of this impending act of domestic terrorism? Apparently, it was.

Writes The Washington Post: “A… report, prepared by the FBI’s Norfolk field office a day before the riot, … warned of specific appeals for violence, including a call for ‘war’ at the Capitol.”

The report quoted a source urging Donald Trump supporters to go to D.C. “ready to fight.”

“Congress needs to hear glass breaking, doors kicked in, and blood from their BLM and Pantifa slave soldiers being spilled. Get violent, stop calling this a march or rally or a protest. Go there ready for war. We get our President or we die. NOTHING else will achieve this goal.”

What did Wray do with this hair-raising warning? Did he call the D.C. police or Speaker Nancy Pelosi to alert her to what might be coming her way?

ORDER IT NOW

No. Wray never saw the Norfolk report. It was not passed up the chain of command to his office until after the riot. It was sent by email to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, which includes the D.C. and Capitol Police, posted on a website and mentioned in a command center briefing in D.C.

Nonchalance seems to have been the FBI’s order of the day.

As acting D.C. police chief Robert J. Contee III told Congress, “I would certainly think that something as violent as an insurrection would warrant a phone call.”

One would think so. Explanations are needed.

How can Wray call a breach of the Capitol by a Trump crowd, an “act of domestic terrorism,” when his own subordinates did not regard it as sufficiently serious enough to give him a heads-up?

And is it not hyperbole to use terms like “domestic terrorism,” “armed insurrection,” “coup d’etat,” and “treason” to describe protesters pushing through police lines into the Capitol to disrupt a proceeding?

What is going on here?

The left will not let this go. It is exaggerating and exploiting what happened at the Capitol to paint the right as an ominous threat to American democracy — and itself as the savior of the republic. It seeks to demonize the populist right, cancel its voice, expel it from the public square and redefine it as a conspiracy against America, calling forth new government authority and power to monitor, expose and destroy it.

If assaulting cops and besieging public buildings amounts to domestic terrorism, the rioting, looting, arson and assaults on cops we saw all last summer in Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, Kenosha and Louisville from antifa and Black Lives Matter protestors would more than qualify.

Today, Capitol Hill is encircled with high fencing topped by razor wire and patrolled by National Guard troops. It looks like the Green Zone in Baghdad. Apparently, the physical barriers and troops are there to protect against attacks by QAnon and white supremacists.

Minneapolis is taking similar precautions to protect the courthouse where ex-cop Derek Chauvin is to be tried for second-degree murder in the death of George Floyd.

My guess, Minneapolis, not Capitol Hill, is where the action will be this spring, and it will not be Proud Boys keeping the cops busy, but folks who, if they did vote in 2020, voted Democratic.

  1. ominous threat to American democracy

“American democracy”, what a funny expression!

But is Stealident Biden to blame? Or is he just another stealident?

One party system? Two party system? Doesn’t matter. A steal either way. Political parties should be private affairs unrecognized by law.

Why not come out and speak TRUTH to J-Power, Mr. B? What have you left to lose? Why not denounce the Deicides, once and for all? At your age, and with your fame, you could denounce the greatest traitors known to Christendom, for the LAST TWENTY CENTURIES…

  7. Chris Wray wanted to save his ass by calling people’s power on 6 January “domestic terrorism.” He just followed the language regime of his mentally disabled boss in the White House. What about the terrorist mob of ANTIFA and BLM? We know from fake news outlet CNN that the protesters who ravaged and looted American cities were “peaceful.” The people who marched into the Congress did not harm; it seems just a great happening, such as in the 1960s. Capitol police made the killing. The Democratic political class staged the death of a policeman as a national show. Disgusting! What about the shooting of Ashli Babbitt? Was she a “homegrown Terrorist”? The Democratic ideologues use this outbreak of people’s power as a pretext to establish a totalitarian system. The US’s flooding with illegal immigrants and the legalization of 11 million illegal immigrants in the US will give the Democratic Party a supermajority to win any future elections without manipulating it as they did in 2020. The crookedness of the FBI didn’t change under President Donald Trump. The US institutions are corrupt and rotten to the bone, and under the Biden/Harris/Obama regime, it will become the new normal again. Washington is an occupied city as Bagdad. More American occupation troops are protecting a corrupt political class than the American Embassy in Baghdad. This fact demonstrates that the US regime has become a banana republic.

  8. The Oklahoma City incident was a rehearsal for the 2001 event. Papa Shrub’s private Iraqi troops imported from the first Gulf War were spotted there practicing the swift removal of evidence. According to the laws of physics, that much damage to such a sturdy building could not have been done with a truck bomb in the parking lot. These troops now protect the compound located in Paraguay at tax payers’ expense.

  9. Paulb says:

Although I am glad no politicians were killed, I believe millions of us were not unhappy to see our bought and sold politicians scurrying to safety in their underground tunnels.

  10. Rurik says:

“That attack, that siege” of the Capitol, FBI Director Chris Wray told Congress, “was criminal behavior, plain and simple, and it was behavior we at the FBI view as domestic terrorism.”

I remember watching Wray’s predecessor James Comey describing when he knew Trump was unfit to be president.

    >><<

Comey said. “I don’t think he’s medically unfit to be president. I think he’s morally unfit to be president.”

A person who sees moral equivalence in Charlottesville, who talks about and treats women like they’re pieces of meat, who lies constantly about matters big and small and insists the American people believe it, that person’s not fit to be president of the United States, on moral grounds.

“Our president must embody respect and adhere to the values that are at the core of this country. The most important being truth. This president is not able to do that. He is morally unfit to be president,” he said.

    >><<

This is the head U.S. law enforcement- saying that anyone claiming that law abiding Americans, with a permit to protest the removal of American monuments to their ancestors and heritage, are so far beyond the pale of moral acceptability (to the FBI), that any comparison between them and a group of violent thugs who illegally assaulted them, is proof of being unfit to hold office. Whoo boy.

IOW, law abiding Americans protesting the removal of monuments to their American heritage, are so despicable to the FBI, that they should all be assaulted by violent thugs acting illegally. And every American of good will, should all condemn the peaceful protesters, while supporting the illegality of the violent thugs.

But this doesn't surprise me. The FBI was at Waco and Ruby Ridge. And psychopath

Louis Freeh was involved with both, and was appointed as the head of the FBI following those heinous atrocities by federal authorities on innocent Americans.

The FBI was very much involved with 9/11, and God knows how many other murderous treasons and cover-ups in this nation.

Indeed, the FBI has become synonymous with the NKVD, for all their treachery on behalf of our ruling elites, at the expense of simple, law-abiding, innocent Americans who have no use for the fiend, and prefer to go their own way.

But the mask is slowly starting to come off. The American people are ever so grudgingly being forced to confront the fact that these people are the enemies of this dying Republic. Nothing more than the armed thugs of the ((ruling elites)) on whose behalf they menace and even murder innocent Americans.

When treasonous rat Christopher Wray- calls a bunch of well-meaning Americans, from the working class sectors of this nation, who bungled into the capital building with police indifference, only to gape around doe-eyed, at what to do next, and then simply leave, as "domestic terrorists", it's only because he's sending a message to middle America.

'We rule you in absolute terms. We do not suffer you to complain or protest. Your job is to put your head down, wear your mask, and pay your taxes. Resistance is futile, and if you don't get the message, we'll send FBI goons to arrest you until you get your mind right.’

The question is, will Americans comply. Will they get their minds right?

These are some of the biggest fifth columnists who are imperiling the Republic:

I would NOT list “whites with no college diploma” as a category of imperiling the republic, without adding “..or trade.” My electrician has no college diploma, but he went to trade school, and did an apprenticeship, and he exemplifies the best of our republic.

I would ADD, as an additional imperiling category, the guys with the leaf blowers who do not let me relax in peace, and who kept me waiting at my Southern California emergency room for five hours (three hours of which were spent sitting on a chair in a hallway).

I would NOT add our immigrants from Northeast Asia, as they seem to be very decent and industrious. A Chinese immigrant I know recently passed the citizenship civics exam, likes Yeats, and far from imperiling the republic, is a credit to the republic that I grew up in.

Actually, two bombs were located and disarmed near political offices. Forget that Pat?

As for Ashli Babbitt, she believed GOP moron-in-chief and drank his kool-aid. Her purpose (you don’t enumerate) – to shut down due process and overturn legitimate election results. Sedition. Clear violation of Trump’s oath to ‘protect and defend the Constitution’. He, of course was busy looking at TV, drinking diet Cokes and scarfing burgers.

What about trade? Trump’s main promise was to reverse American jobs sent abroad. Guess what? He sent even more abroad.

Trump increased the US – World Trade Deficit by $518,986,000,000 -17.87% more that Obama 2013-16.

Mexico, whose trade deficit Trump promised to reverse, now enjoys a 56.7% deficit increase ($131,864,000,000 more than Obama 2013-16).

China, supposed Trump bitter rival increased it’s deficit by $72,472,000,000 (5.26%) despite the pandemic.

  21. KenH says:

Christopher Wray and his dyke on a bike sidekick were just vomiting out the talking points of the Democrat party and ADL when they kept bleating about “white supremacist domestic terrorism”. Wray knows that if he veers too far off script he will get fired. Then Biden would probably appoint Greenblatt of the ADL to head the FBI.

Paul Craig Roberts was correct that Wray is empire building but all FBI directors seek more power and more budget to the detriment of individual liberty. PCR was also correct that he’s probably even worse than James Comey. Comey at least defended the first amendment in interviews after being canned and said it wasn’t the FBI’s job to police so called hate speech. He also didn’t politicize the Dylan Roof shooting.

No Republican Senator asked Wray and the FBI to compare the number of shootings in Chicago over the last 4-6 weeks to alleged “white supremacist domestic terrorist” incidents. If the FBI did this then they would find that there were more shootings in Chicago over that short period than by so called white supremacists over the last 25 years.

The San Bernadino shootings and Pulse Nightclub shootings by extremists Muslims dwarfs anything so called white supremacists have done the last 25 years. There are 63 dead in those two incidents.

The FBI is now just an appendage of the radical left wing Democrat party. It is they and groups like the ADL who imperil our beloved Banana Republic.

  22. Kindly notice that left and liberal are NOT synonymous. “The left” is not a monolithic bloc that mindlessly supports the smearing of our fellow citizens at the Capitol. The liberals are, and do. Some of us who remember occupying deans’ offices in the Sixties respect those who muscled their way into the head office of what MLK so long ago correctly termed “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today.” That a mendacious blowhard like Trump inspired all this with yet another big lie is one of the delicious ironies that endlessly crop up in the long, sorry history of mankind. Though it would not surprise me one bit if credible evidence might one day emerge that the Dems did in fact sabotage the vote. Both parties hold the people in contempt and not without good reason: we are so easy to manipulate.

“Divide and conquer” has worked brilliantly, as usual. Now it’s now only a matter of time before simply posting a comment like this in public will earn a late night visit from a SWAT team.

  23. @anon

I read that, in a non-binding vote last year, only 52% of Puerto Ricans wanted US statehood, hardly a resounding majority. Yet the far left democrats keep pushing for it, to cement a permanent majority, which is a continuation of Manifest Destiny. Doing a quick read of the US relationship with that island, I gleaned that Washington has treated them terribly and pushed them around since its colonial occupation began in 1898, when it was wrested from Spain.

There’s been considerable violence by Puerto Rican Nationalists throughout its history, with the high water mark being its storming of the US capitol in 1954, when 5 congressmen were shot. That insurrection was surely worse than the mostly peaceful one on 1-6, when none who breached the walls even had a gun.

Big Brother Washington should have given them their independence long ago, now it’s probably too late. If they had, we would not be faced with this perennial problem of their statehood, with Puerto Ricans having no say in it, and living in limbo as second class US citizens. They have become a drag on the US taxpayers, and its residents do not file taxes to the IRS. The democrats, whenever they have a majority, are just using them as a cudgel hanging over the heads of Heritage America. Instead of statehood, its past time to Free Puerto Rico!

  24. I believe that Chistopher Wray is QAnon, whoch would explain why the FBI kept Q’s identity secret,
( if it was Trump, or any member of the Trump family, bet on it being spread over every front page headline, and they would never stop talking about it! ) and would also explain why it is that QAnon has not beem named in the lawsuits filed by Dems against Trump, Giuliani, Proud Boys, amd Oath Keepers. The FBI labeled QAnon was a terrorist network, said that they were investigating it, refuse to reveal the identity, and then suddenly they drop their focus on it without any explanation. QAnon supporters were there on 1/6. 1/6 was an InfraGard psy-op failed attempt to get the Department of Homeland Security to resort to SOP303, to shut down communications and steal from everyone that they wanted to steal from.

InfraGard is a surveillance cult filled with terrorists and hard core, serial criminal psychopaths, and I am one of their victims.

The FBI was working with all of the groups that they ended up slamming. It is a giant entrapment net, apparently, and nobody does entrapment more than the government. The FBI has a history of grooming terrorists to commit terrorist acts, frame them for it, arrest them, and attempt to justify their existences that way, like the often referrenced self-licking ice cream cone. All of those bastards took an oath to uphold and defend the consitution. Not one of them has, obviously! The constitution and its adherents are enemies of the state as far as they are concerned.

They are not qualified to be a part of this country. They refuse to work within the system, which is the constitution. They prefer the Chinese, the Gestapo, and the Stasi system. They are in the wrong country!

Legislation that would have protected American’s constitutional rights in many cases by people have been fillibustered so that congress does not have to destroy their credibility with voters by refucing to pass legislation that protects constitutional rights and prevents crimes against humanity. Two that come to mind are Dennis Kucinich and Ron Wyden. The same thing happened in the Wisconsin state legislature by a Republican that tried to ban smart energy meters. Bills get introduced, and they are literally never voted on because of fillibuster abuse. If a politician wants to protect liberty, I do not care which party they happen to be in, or if they are an unaffiliated independent, I support legislation that protects liberty and constitutional rights.
