From the Wall Street Journal news section:

Murders Are Rising the Most in a Few Isolated Precincts of Major Cities

A handful of neighborhoods with histories of violence are the primary source of a recent surge in killings in Chicago, New York and elsewhereBy Jon Hilsenrath and Joe Barrett

May 8, 2021 12:01 am ET

A murder wave in U.S. cities that started last year is carrying forward into 2021, and a growing body of research shows a pattern behind the rise: It has been concentrated in relatively few poor neighborhoods, typically Black and Hispanic, with persistent histories of violence.

Maybe the reason is because the murder surge has been concentrated among blacks?

NEWLY-RELEASED DATA SHOWS [sic] CITY CONTINUES TO DENY EQUITABLE POLICE SERVICES TO SOUTH AND WEST SIDE NEIGHBORHOODS

Nearly three years ago [i.e., 2011], the ACLU of Illinois and the Central Austin Neighborhood Association (CANA) filed a lawsuit challenging the City’s scheme for police deployment, asserting that police officers are over-deployed in majority white communities, while neighborhoods of color have fewer police to respond to violent crimes and emergency calls for service. The disparity in deployment has been well-document in recent years. For example, communities of color regularly experience situations when no police officer is available to respond to a 9-1-1 emergency call, a situation rare in majority white neighborhoods.

Neighborhoods with significant ethnic minority populations in Chicago are more likely to have slower response rates to emergency calls and higher rates of serious violent crimes, as compared to predominately white neighborhoods.

I'm greatly puzzled by these BLM displays in white neighborhoods. I've seen a few, and they're from people who would never have bothered to blare political slogans in front of their house like this in pervious years.

My theory is that some naive and simple-minded whites, who used to have a normal pre-Covid life, with a lot of getting-outside-the-house time and doing activities with their friends, have spent too much time cooped up indoors with only their TV and computer as windows into the outside world. It's like everyone has been made an introvert against their will this year, and a few people, who are rather neurotic, sheltered sorts with a poor reality checker, have absorbed too much social media and leftist propaganda that would have passed them by in previous years.

  25. A couple of illustrative quotes from the WSJ article.

Many of these areas saw hospitals, schools, churches and businesses—the institutions that tie a place together and create order—shut down. Losing that social and economic infrastructure left them prone to gangs and violence.

WSJ would strongly prefer not to notice the accelerating ghetto decay. But when the WSJ cannot avoid noticing, it has to reverse cause and effect to avoid narrative collapse. The reality is that black violence causes businesses to leave neighborhoods, but that reality interferes with the narrative. So the WSJ prefers the following version — black violence is caused by businesses leaving the neighborhood. In Michael Crichton’s bon mot, “wet streets cause rain”.

Distrust of police in many neighborhoods grew after Mr. Floyd’s killing, making it even harder for police to maintain order. Police in some places became reluctant to engage amid a public backlash over their tactics and behavior, and residents became less willing to help with tips and information.

Another application of “Occam’s Butter Knife”. Ghetto criminals threaten their neighbors — “snitches get stitches” — so they tend not to report crime. But that reality interferes with the narrative, so we’ve got to blame it on something completely irrelevant.

Black dysfunction and failure of progressive mayors (usually black as well) to enforce the law are the root causes of decay. But those facts cannot be noticed, but less published in Clownworld.

I was raised by corrupt, racist St. Louis area law enforcement parents. My Father was a corrupt St. Louis City Cop. When we were little kids, 6,7,8 years old...(mid 1960's)...my Dad would take us out at night while he drank 20-30 beers and cruised around in his Cadillac listening to police scanners going off all over the North St. Louis ghetto. My Father would cruise the Pruitt Igoe Housing project and deliver us his rambling opinions on black people and the way they lived in these areas. The neighborhoods were filthy, drunks stumbling everywhere, hookers on street corners and crime everywhere. I learned a long time ago to reject my parents racism, but the point is that these areas were slums decades ago...and are worse slums today. What happened to all the trillions of dollars that were..."invested"...in these communities in order to bring them out of poverty and crime? Where is all the Democrat Leadership that managed all of these crime-ridden areas? Every high crime area of the country has been managed by minorities for decades...and they have robbed their constituents blind. Their cities are still ghettos, they still live in slums, they still have high drug abuse problems and their crime situation is worse than ever. How is that the fault of the rest of society? The people of these areas need to take responsibility for their own actions, their lack of a father in the home, and the waste of trillions of dollars designed to help them. Go ask your political leadership where all of that money went...and ask them..."why hasn't our situation gotten any better"? I'll bet they will blame it on racism. That way the problem will never be solved.

"Riots in France" is a evergreen topic. They've had BLM-like riots before it was cool:

1992: Following the death of 18-year-old Mohamed Bahri in Vaulx-en-Velin at the hands of police, youths attacked the town's police station and burned cars.[3]
1995: Rioting in several eastern suburbs of Lyon following the police killing of terrorist Khaled Kelkal, a key organizer of the 1995 France bombings
1997: Rioting occurred in Dammarie-lès-Lys after 16-year-old Abdelkadher Bouziane was shot and killed by police and his 19-year-old friend wounded.[6]
1998: Two days of riots occurred in suburban Toulouse after 17-year-old Habib Muhammed was shot by police during a car theft.[7]

Bull sharks have been found in both the Mississippi River and the Ohio River far inland from the ocean. They're also known to be in the Ganges River in India and in rivers in Australia.

A very famous case was the Matawan creek shark attacks in New Jersey in 1916. The attacks occurred in a fresh water creek 11 miles inland from the ocean.

So the WSJ prefers the following version -- black violence is caused by businesses leaving the neighborhood. In Michael Crichton's bon mot, "wet streets cause rain".

Distrust of police in many neighborhoods grew after Mr. Floyd’s killing, making it even harder for police to maintain order. Police in some places became reluctant to engage amid a public backlash over their tactics and behavior, and residents became less willing to help with tips and information.

Another application of "Occam's Butter Knife". Ghetto criminals threaten their neighbors -- "snitches get stitches" -- so they tend not to report crime. But that reality interferes with the narrative, so we've got to blame it on something completely irrelevant.

Black dysfunction and failure of progressive mayors (usually black as well) to enforce the law are the root causes of decay. But those facts cannot be noticed, but less published in Clownworld.

But: The editors often over-attribute the sources of problems to business and tax factors, rather than cultural factors. The old saying goes: “to a hammer, everything is a nail.” To the WSJ editors, everything is an erroneous, anti-free-market financial factor.

The financial world is full of phony explanations for movements in stock prices that may or may not be true.

A report will say something like "AT&T stock was sharply down this morning on news of the (whatever) and then make no comment when AT&t stock goes back to exactly the same level the following day.

Or the headline news will always say the Dow was up x points today on news of y, without there really being any evidence that y is affecting the stock market

My interpretation of what happens is that when there is any news that COULD impact a stock or the market in general stock traders immediately adjust their bid and offer prices by an exaggerated amount to counteract the effects of computerized trading algorithms reacting to the same news, but then once the news has been digested and found not to be significant everything settles down.

Occasionally there are new stories that really do move the stock market, like for example the ship getting jammed in the Suez Canal affecting the price of oil while experts workout how long it is likely to be before the ship is moved, but mostly it is all bullshit.

So offering explanations for increased crime figures in certain areas without appearing to be racist tends to lead to "wet streets cause rain" explanations.

In reality everybody knows get the reason these areas have high rates of crime and murder is that a lot of violent criminals live in these zip codes, but that would be a little bit like reporting that the Dow Jones industrial index either goes up or down everyday, because that is what it does.

ACLU Illinois just seven years ago-- prepare to be astonished:

NEWLY-RELEASED DATA SHOWS [sic] CITY CONTINUES TO DENY EQUITABLE POLICE SERVICES TO SOUTH AND WEST SIDE NEIGHBORHOODS

Nearly three years ago [i.e., 2011], the ACLU of Illinois and the Central Austin Neighborhood Association (CANA) filed a lawsuit challenging the City's scheme for police deployment, asserting that police officers are over-deployed in majority white communities, while neighborhoods of color have fewer police to respond to violent crimes and emergency calls for service. The disparity in deployment has been well-document in recent years. For example, communities of color regularly experience situations when no police officer is available to respond to a 9-1-1 emergency call, a situation rare in majority white neighborhoods.

    CANA V. CITY OF CHICAGO

Neighborhoods with significant ethnic minority populations in Chicago are more likely to have slower response rates to emergency calls and higher rates of serious violent crimes, as compared to predominately white neighborhoods.

Our favorite commenter Truth claims withholding white cops from minority neighborhoods would be unconstitutional. But how? Maybe in 2011, but in 2021? When they ask for it?

Well, the black neighborhoods probably do not have enough publicly displayed BLM signs, “Hate has no home here” signs, rainbow flags, etc.

The super zip where I live is peppered with such displays and we’ve not experienced a “murder surge.”

I’m greatly puzzled by these BLM displays in white neighborhoods. I’ve seen a few, and they’re from people who would never have bothered to blare political slogans in front of their house like this in pervious years.

It’s like everyone has been made an introvert against their will this year, and a few people, who are rather neurotic, sheltered sorts with a poor reality checker, have absorbed too much social media and leftist propaganda that would have passed them by in previous years.

When we were little kids, 6,7,8 years old…(mid 1960’s)…my Dad would take us out at night while he drank 20-30 beers and cruised around in his Cadillac listening to police scanners going off all over the North St. Louis ghetto. My Father would cruise the Pruitt Igoe Housing project and deliver us his rambling opinions on black people and the way they lived in these areas. The neighborhoods were filthy, drunks stumbling everywhere, hookers on street corners and crime everywhere. I learned a long time ago to reject my parents racism, but the point is that these areas were slums decades ago…and are worse slums today. What happened to all the trillions of dollars that were…”invested”…in these communities in order to bring them out of poverty and crime? Where is all the Democrat Leadership that managed all of these crime-ridden areas? Every high crime area of the country has been managed by minorities for decades…and they have robbed their constituents blind. It's like everyone has been made an introvert against their will this year, and a few people, who are rather neurotic, sheltered sorts with a poor reality checker, have absorbed too much social media and leftist propaganda that would have passed them by in previous years.

“So the WSJ prefers the following version — black violence is caused by businesses leaving the neighborhood. In Michael Crichton’s bon mot, “wet streets cause rain”.”

I subscribe to the WSJ, and can attest that their editorial page is by-and-large accurate and rational. But: The editors often over-attribute the sources of problems to business and tax factors, rather than cultural factors. The old saying goes: “to a hammer, everything is a nail.” To the WSJ editors, everything is an erroneous, anti-free-market financial factor.

    Replies: @Jonathan Mason

The financial world is full of phony explanations for movements in stock prices that may or may not be true.

A report will say something like “AT&T stock was sharply down this morning on news of the (whatever) and then make no comment when AT&t stock goes back to exactly the same level the following day.

So offering explanations for increased crime figures in certain areas without appearing to be racist tends to lead to “wet streets cause rain” explanations.

In reality everybody knows get the reason these areas have high rates of crime and murder is that a lot of violent criminals live in these zip codes, but that would be a little bit like reporting that the Dow Jones industrial index either goes up or down everyday, because that is what it does.

The extra aggression of whites (and maybe blacks) is adaptive in some circumstances (e.g. creativity and "getting things done"). So i don't think we should leave the planet to one race or another (and probably we'll leave it to AIs rather than humans anyway).

However the BLM style complaints, especially in Democrat / black run cities, translated to white - asian relations would be something like some American soldiers having a fight with each other on a US base in Okinawa and then blaming it on the Japanese and then insisting that exclusion of outsiders during the Edo Period (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakoku_Edict_of_1635) is the only proof necessary of systemic anti-white sentiment today that is causing white soldiers to brawl.

The extra aggression of whites (and maybe blacks) is adaptive in some circumstances (e.g. creativity and “getting things done”). So i don’t think we should leave the planet to one race or another (and probably we’ll leave it to AIs rather than humans anyway).

However the BLM style complaints, especially in Democrat / black run cities, translated to white – asian relations would be something like some American soldiers having a fight with each other on a US base in Okinawa and then blaming it on the Japanese and then insisting that exclusion of outsiders during the Edo Period (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakoku_Edict_of_1635) is the only proof necessary of systemic anti-white sentiment today that is causing white soldiers to brawl.

American soldiers have no business being stationed in Japan.

Japanese are quite capable of defending themselves. And if they aren't, meh -- it doesn't change the price of a loaf of bread in Des Moines.

So you are agreeing with me that whites commit less murder crime and violence then blacks.

I think the question is, do you agree with me, that Asians commit less murder crime and violence than whites?

All I know is that black people are really lovable. I see them in commercials all the time and I immediately buy those products.

Oh, you mean the half-black (or less) off-white people they put on tv as proxies for the really scary violent illiterate innumerate murderous moronic retard-strong darkies we’re not supposed to talk about? Yes they’re adorable, but I do avoid buying the products, because I know the money just goes to hypocritical crackers and (((whiteswhentheywannabes))).

Must have. According to China Joe, white supremacist domestic terrorists are the biggest threat to the USSA.

It has been concentrated in relatively few poor neighborhoods, typically Black and Hispanic, with persistent histories of violence.

Add lithium to the black water supply? Better still add the orally administered French abortion drug to their water supply. Twenty four hours after adminstration so many fatherless EBT dependant foetuses would be popping out, black areas would sound like the largest popcorn maker in history. Pop, Pop, POP.........
